As a Holy Family Parish we are concerned for all our parishioners both young and old and particularly those who are feeling their age or who are sick or more seriously ill.
It is our duty as a parish community to support them with our prayers, so please inform the parish office, so that we can ask for prayers at our weekend Masses in the Bidding Prayers and alert the SVP who can bring them Holy Communion at home.
Especially for those who are house-bound or disabled if they would like a visit from Fr John, please let the office know and he is happy to come and pray with them and offer them the opportunity for Confession, Holy Communion and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
We know that when Jesus sent out the Apostles, he gave them the command to preach the good news, to cast out evil and to heal the sick. Through the sacraments we continue the good work they began.
In Confession, we have the opportunity to share our failures and sorrows, our sins and the good we have failed to do and to receive the Assurance of God’s pardon and his peace.
In the Anointing the priest prays for healing both of body and soul and offers the healing touch of the Holy Oil where we are united with the healing power of Christ entrusted to the Church. In this sacrament we receive from the Holy Spirit the grace of the strength, courage and peace that we need when facing serious illness, the frailty of old age and the approach of death.
In Holy Communion we are united with Christ and with all the members of his mystical Body, the Church who pray with us and for us.
End of Life Care
For anyone who is approaching the end of their life, Catholics are encouraged to ask for a priest to come and help prepare for the final journey, to offer the consolation of prayer and the sacraments. Please do contact us in good time so that we can offer the support and prayers of the whole parish community.
To arrange for the priest to visit the sick or dying, please contact the parish office during office hours which are every morning Monday to Friday except Wednesdays, when the office is closed
