Confirmation

The aim of the Confirmation programme is to encourage and support the candidates on their personal journey of faith.

Taking part in the programme is part of a personal process of discernment to help those taking part to make a personal decision as to whether they want to be confirmed in their faith as adult Catholics. That process involves the Candidates taking the time and effort to engage in the programme, but the final decision has to be theirs.

Confirmation is the sacrament by which young people who were baptised as children are invited to renew the promises that were made for them by their parents and godparents at their baptism. Those involve a decision to reject the power and attraction of evil and a commitment to belief in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Holy Catholic Church.

In practice there are four elements to our Holy Family Programme which will begin after the Half Term Holiday:

Active participation in our Saturday Night Mass. Candidates are asked to volunteer to help at Mass by reading, serving, singing and/or helping take up the Collection.

  • Taking part in our After Mass sessions on Saturday nights where we will explore what being a believer means today.
  • Participation in the Salesian School Lenten (Lectio Divina) Programme on Tuesdays after School during Lent.
  • Participation in our parish Pilgrimage.
